The Area

Magdalen Street

The King’s Head, takes great pride in the local area – an up and coming part of the city that’s now home to a wide range of boutiques, cafes, craft shops, artists and a truly impressive array of antique and exotic furniture stores.

Places like Looses Emporium and Aladdin’s Cave are some of the hidden gems in Norwich, where a visit is more like a treasure hunt of epic proportions than a shopping trip. You can always bank on a collection featuring the unusual, the rare, the collectible and the old.

“Looks like a small pub from outside but has a surprisingly large room behind the front bar. A very good selection of ales which were in fine condition. Obviously frequented by those who like their beer, and run by people who know how to keep a proper pub. It would be a serious contender for a regular haunt if I lived in Norwich. “

The Magdalen Street community scene has become a thriving hub in Norwich, with yearly music events like The Magdalen Street Celebration and various other groups like MATA (Magdalen Street and Anglia Square Traders Association).

The pub itself supports a friendly array of regular locals, some pictured on the left on the annual Brewery field trip.

“This is a must-visit when in Norwich.”

Magdalen Street itself is located in the core of old Norwich, bordering on the River, the Cathederal and the Elm Hill areas of one of the oldest cities in the UK.

‘Let any stranger find me so pleasant a county, such good way, large heath, three such places as Norwich, Yar. and Lin. in any county of England, and I’ll bee once again a vagabond to visit them.’
